In a virtual sign that she'll be Oscar nominated, the 29th Santa Barbara International Film Festival will bestow its Modern Master award upon the great Emma Thompson, whose performance in Saving Mr. Banks has received strong responses from critics after screenings. The fest will also honour other potential Oscar nominees Cate Blanchett, Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey.
