SBIFF MONTECITO AWARD WILL GO TO OPRAH WINFREY

To all those who think Lee Daniels' The Butler is losing steam: eat shit. Oprah has appeared on three separate primetime British TV shows over the past few days, promoting the film, in her first UK TV appearances in over 11 years. And the Santa Barbara International Film Festival will not only give their Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence to the film's lead Forest Whitaker, but also its Montecito Award to his co-star Oprah Winfrey. The award goes to an actor for career achievement in acting in a year in which they have given a particularly strong performance. Last year, the award went to Daniel Day-Lewis. Their Outstanding Performer of the Year is Cate Blanchett.
