'Uneventful' is how one critic describes Richard Loncraine's Ruth & Alex; that's not necessarily a bad thing, but for a gentle, geriatric American drama as this one is being pitched, it sounds like a very bad thing indeed. Maybe it won't be that bad, but hey, who cares? Morgan Freeman + Diane Keaton = win.
