For a filmmaker with such a keen fanbase, and with so many famous collaborators in the business, Hal Hartley has remained a distinctively underground voice in American indie cinema. Ned Rifle completes a trilogy for the director, following Henry Fool and Fay Grim, and has premiered at TIFF 2014 to some acclaim from critics like Dennis Harvey at Variety, Jordan Mintzer at The Hollywood Reporter and Eric Kohn at IndieWire.
