TORONTO REPORT: ESCOBAR: PARADISE LOST

Actor Andrea di Stefano makes a transition to director with Escobar: Paradise Lost, less a portrait of drug lord Pablo Escobar but of a young, considerably more-marketable, man who falls for Escobar's niece. Stars Benicio del Toro, who receives strong reviews for his turn, and Josh Hutcherson previously worked together on del Toro's short for the anthology film 7 Days in Havana. Reviews for their new collaboration aren't especially good, as you can read in articles from Eric Kohn at IndieWire, Scott Foundas at Variety and Matt Goldberg at Collider.
