CRITICS LEAVE THE BLUE ROOM AT CANNES IN A BETTER-THAN-BLUE MOOD

Sundance Selects has just acquired the North American rights to Mathieu Amalric's The Blue Room, his adaptation of Georges Simenon's novel that has attracted a likening to Claude Chabrol from one critic. It's showing at Cannes, in Un Certain Regard, after Amalric's last directorial effort there, On Tour, nabbed him the main competition Best Director prize. Looks like this one could be the celebrated actor's most high-profile international hit yet as filmmaker. Here are reviews from Monica Delgado at desistfilm, Xan Brooks at The Guardian, Jordan Mintzer at The Hollywood Reporter and Guy Lodge at Variety.
