CANNES: LOST RIVER LEADS TO A SEA OF BAD REVIEWS

I'd pay a lot of money to see several body parts go up Ryan Gosling's arse, but not his own head. His directorial debut Lost River appears to have been intended to baffle and bewilder audiences. Critics seem neither baffled nor bewildered - it's quite apparent, apparently, that Lost River is a self-indulgent exercise in hollow, shameless cinematic thievery, from a largely talentless filmmaker. Read the scathing responses from Richard Corliss at TIME, Sam Adams at CriticWire, Peter Bradshaw at The Guardian, A. A. Dowd at The A. V. Club, Todd McCarthy at The Hollywood Reporter, Eric Kohn at IndieWire, Peter Labuza at The Film Stage, Oliver Lyttleton at The Playlist and Justin Chang at Variety.
