This film, the second from Belgian director Michael R. Roskam (reuniting him with the breakout star of his first, Bullhead, Matthias Schoenaerts) has already received a lot of attention for being the final film of the late James Gandolfini. Its starry, international, male cast is at least broken up by the female presence of Noomi Rapace. Dennis Lehane adapted the screenplay from his novel Animal Rescue - it's his first screenplay. I'm attracted to it by Tom Hardy, who's just about as good an actor as Hollywood has on its hands right now, and the doggy! After he missed out for Enough Said last year, could this be the posthumous Oscar nomination for James Gandolfini we've been expecting?
