The beautiful animation in Ernest & Celestine, which I saw in the earlier months of 2013 and which is now a most-deserved nominee for the Best Animated Feature Oscar, remains my favourite of all the animation in cinema last year. Gorgeous hand-drawn imagery, with its rustic visible pencil lines and delightfully detailed watercolours, it's a real treat to see such exquisite animated artistry in films these days. Or indeed, any day.
