THE STAND - BEN AFFLECK OUT, SCOTT COOPER IN

Now that Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman in one Warner Bros. production, he has departed another. The Stand, currently existing as a draft by Dave Kajganich from Stephen King's 1978 novel, was supposed to be Affleck's next project following his upcoming adaptation of Dennis Lehane's Live by Night. Scott Cooper, the Crazy Heart director whose Out of the Furnace could be an awards contender this year, with a solid trailer and a US release on the 6th of December (31st of January in the UK) will take over from Affleck on the project, re-writing Kajganich's draft and directing the film.
