LOCARNO FILM FESTIVAL LINE-UP ANNOUNCED


From the 7th to the 17th of August, the Locarno Film Festival will take place, and its line-up was today announced. In the Piazza Grande section, some high-profile premieres including Baltasar Kormakur's 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington, which will open the festival, Jennifer Aniston / Jason Sudeikis comedy We're the Millers, and Richard Curtis' romance About Time, starring Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams. Cannes-winning Blue Ruin is also set to screen. Here's the line-up for the official International Competition:

  • Pays Barbare (Yervant Gianikian and Angela Ricci Lucchi) - France
  • Real (Kiyoshi Kurosawa) - Japan
  • Sangue (Pippo Delbono) - Italy / Switzerland
  • Short Term 12 (Destin Cretton) - USA
  • Sentimental Education (Julio Bressane) - Brazil
  • Story of My Death (Albert Serra) - France / Spain
  • The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears (Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani) - Belgium / France / Luxembourg
  • A Time in Qu Chi (Chang Tso Chi) - Taiwan

  • When Evening Falls on Bucharest or Metabolism (Corneliu Porumboiu) - Romania
Two films directed by women and two co-directed by women, world premieres for the new films from Shinji Aoyama and Amer team Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani, alongside Hong Sang Soo and Kiyoshi Kurosawa's latest works. Actors such as Virginie Ledoyen, Tom Hiddleston, Nicole Garcia and Brie Larson appear in the featured films.
