REVIEWS FOR MONSOON SHOOTOUT FROM CANNES

This feature debut thriller from Amit Kumar has proved a decent hit at Cannes, where it screened yesterday. Mixing popcorn cinema with arthouse, Monsoon Shootout explores three different outcomes of a crucial decision made by a rookie Mumbai police officer.

Peter Bradshaw at The Guardian acknowledges its status as both an 'entertaining popcorn-movie' and a 'moody, broody downbeat drama', rating it three stars out of five. A moderately more positive review comes from Deborah Young at The Hollywood Reporter. Look out for this one, which sounds like it may be in line for a successful international run in arthouses, and as a launchpad for Kumar's career.
