The ICS delivers their verdict on the films of 2012, being the last of the critic organisations to do so, by a long way. And their choices are perhaps more reflective of the critical opinion in America last year than many of the more famous groups'. Holy Motors is a big winner, and Tabu was also popular. These are right up my street. Nominations can be found here.

  1. Haven't seen many of the awarded foreign films.
Pleasure to see Zero Dark Thirty's Editing victoy, The Master & Moorise Kingdom's so desreved adoration.

If you wouldn't mind, got an inquiry to make.
Having this unfortunate trouble of not been able access your film reviews at times.
When a movie's(popular critical ones, released well before 2012 december) name is typed on search engine, it takes me rather to an awards' section page/pages where screen on screen review of the movie is seemingly absent.
    Sorry. Any remedy?
Or is it my PC as dim-witted as me?

    1. Sorry, no idea! Have you kept flipping back through the pages? My awards-related posts tend to be my most popular, so that might be why they're coming up first. I'll see if I can fix it.

    2. Was always typing the movies' name on the bottom side of search engine.
Now, after typing the same on top side of search engine, it takes us to the popular matching of the movie's name with awards' gallery. As you asked, after flipping through the posts, we arrive at the review sandwiched between other articles. That's not a problem. Now, could access easily for time being.
Amour's review is beautiful. Thank you.

    3. Good that you've been able to find what you were looking for. I'm not sure how to change that feature, but I'll have another look.

  2. Was back in time, a while ago, reading your summarised edition of AMPAS nominations with some sentences with it. How incredulous the eventful major nominations seemed. 10 january, since, a month has passed and we're still dissecting and debating trying dot the i's and still we are nowhere certain.
Apparently, it's a done deal with precursors but Academy, got to have their won say.
It occurred to me, brother that why do we care about all this unconvincing, harrowing and whispering, often poltical godforsaken game of hype and momentum, just watch the movies and enjoy.
Then had an epiphany its friggin Ocars, highest film-making honour, cinephiles and cinemagoers gotta care r8.
Just hoping to 've some pleasant surprises. And not horrible surprises.

    1. Yeah, I try to see them as separate things. I appreciate the films I appreciate as themselves, without consideration for how well they may fare come Oscar season. If they do fare well, like Amour or Life of Pi have this year, I'm happy. If they don't, like Keep the Lights On or Holy Motors, I don't get too bothered. And I try to enjoy the Oscar race as just a game, albeit a game that has rather too much influence on culture for my liking.

    2. Agreed. A game that has rather too much influence on culture for my liking. Absolutely.
May be, had too much expectations on this race that rather turned out be lopsided, with one group jus marching and sweeping ahead. Nevertheless, we wait for that 24th February.
      Thank you.

  3. Nice to see THE TURIN HORSE -my favorite film of the year- show up on the non-English language list.

But obviously this group always offers up classy choices.
