The sound categories are often tough to call, and Oscar doesn't match with the guilds very often. This year, the MPSE are announcing their nominations after Oscar, and here we have the CAS, announcing before Oscar, but after the ballot deadline. For the first time, animated films have their own category; animations often receive sound nominations from the Academy. This year, I predict that none will, however, and that three of the live action nominees here will, with The Hobbit and (maybe) Lincoln being replaced with Django Unchained and (maybe) Life of Pi. Winners will be announced on the 16th of February.
