All five Oscar nominees are present on these, the first of the guild nominations to be released after Oscar nominations this year. Four of the Drama nominees match with the Academy, with Skyfall, perhaps surprisingly, being the one left behind. Of the Comedy or Musical nominees, Silver Linings Playbook has the edge over Les Miserables, being the film to replace Skyfall on AMPAS' list. Winners will be announced on the 16th of February - expect it to still be between Argo and Zero Dark Thirty, despite neither of those films holding up as the contenders we thought they could be a few days back.

  1. As u rightly pointed out, its Goldenberg vs Goldenberg in Editing unless Lincoln or SLP sweepes guilds/oscar.
Alexander Berner's stellar work for CLoud Atlas is forgotten.
And Raskin is drawing too much heat for what has to be pointed on Tarantino and we need stop comparing him to Menke.
And this comedy/drama category is frustrating 2 say the least.
Brother, weren't Golden Globe ballots were submitted before Oscar nominations?
If that's the case there's still chance for Bigelow or Affleck to win best director right.
But they dearly dig Speilberg a lot.
Not that he doesnt deserve but they r others whom it could really help to serve as consolation prize.
Speilberg can survive passing this award.
Globes cud hand it to Bigelow whom they overlooked in 2010.
And, are v gonna ve ur winner predictions for Globes?
And THE MASTER'S absence in Guild's technical categories is worse.

    1. I think Globe votes were all cast before Oscar nominations, yes. That keeps this race so interesting. I don't think they'll go with Zero Dark Thirty, but wins for Argo of Life of Pi would shake things up even more. But yeah, I predict Lincoln to take both top awards on Sunday.

  2. Whether or not the Film Editing Oscar goes to the eventual Best Picture winner or not, the best in this category is certainly ZERO DARK THIRTY, and the AC Eddie would seem to be headed in that direction........I hope! Ha!
