Fucking hell. Sometimes, Roger Ebert's influence bears heavily upon the CFCA's picks, and nominations here and there for films like Beasts of the Southern Wild (big love) and Cloud Atlas (a little less) don't disprove that. The Master's prominence is evidence to the contrary though. Aside from the occasional stinker (Drew Goddard for Most Promising Filmmaker, Silver Linings Playbook for Best Adapted Screenplay), these are A-MA-ZING. I've always rather liked the CFCA, and now I love them. #I #fucking #love #them. Too many reasons, too many examples, I won't start. I was going to, as I began typing these nominations up, and then there became too many great choices, and I decided not to bother and, instead, to mention that #I #fucking #love #the #CFCA. Winners on Monday bitcheees!

  1. Well, it must be acknowledged that of the various critics' groups nationwide, Chicago has done an exceptionally fine job this year.

Perhaps we can hope the normally-reliable art-house oriented The National Society of Film Critics can even impress more.
