Do you think they like The Artist?

Otherwise, these are slightly weird choices. This is probably the most love The Artist will get all year, even if it comes to win the Oscar. Strange that Elizabeth Olsen should win Best Actress and yet lose Breakthrough Performance to Thomas Horn. They sure do seem to love Thomas Horn - eugh - choosing him over Asa Butterfield, which is a very poor choice. Equally odd as those are The Muppets beating Hugo for Live Action Family Film, despite the fact that Hugo is nominated for both Best Picture and Director here. Hugo also loses Adapted Screenplay...to The Help! And Super 8 wins Ensemble Cast. And The Skin I Live In wins Best Foreign Language Film - no, not an unusual choice, just a bad one. And Michel Hazanavicius wins Breakthrough Director - well, I suppose he can have that, seeing as it's not 'Debut' but 'Breakthrough'. And The Artist has won just about everything here. It does lose Best Cinematography though, but who do you think wins that...? One of the only conventional decisions today.

Here are their nominations, with a great big lumpy jump in the middle, which is typical of me, of course...
